These items are important for establishing smooth drop off and pick up routines:
- Please give yourself plenty of time for drop off and pick up. There are 325 children in the school and most get dropped off and picked up each day.
- The speed limit in the parking lot is 5 mph. Please go slowly and be patient with others in our school community.
- Please do NOT use the main entrance while buses are loading and unloading. Doing so is unsafe for our children.
- The parent door is open for 10 minutes for both drop off and pick up as a convenience to you. Over the years we have found that this works well. As a hint, it is more convenient to be in line and wait for the door to open at 8:40 AM and 2:20 PM.
- For security reasons, the staff monitoring the door will be strict about closing the door promptly at 8:50 AM and also at 2:30 PM. You will then be redirected to the main entrance at the bus circle and exceptions cannot be made.
- There is a small ONE WAY ONLY section of the parking lot in the semicircle near the parent door/playground. Please be considerate. Follow the signs to avoid a head on collision in the one way only section.
- Teachers have structured work time that is protected by their work agreements. Teacher work time before the 8:40 AM bell is for them to be planning and setting up for the day. Therefore, students and parents cannot enter the room before 8:40 AM. Once the bell rings, teachers will happily welcome parents and children for the beginning of their day.
- Arrival and dismissal times are a good time to quickly touch base with the staff in the room, but is not a very convenient time for an individual conference about your child's education. Teachers have a responsibility to greet and speak with all families and students at arrival and dismissal. If you would like an individual conference, those can be set up at a mutually agreeable time with your child's teacher for a planned before or after school time.
